Gloria E. McClellan, Mayor of the City of Vista, California, does hereby proclaim June 27, 2000 as:  “GRACE ANN ETCHEBERRIA-JACOBS DAY IN THE CITY OF VISTA”

After 15 years of service to the youth of North San Diego County as Moonlight Amphitheatre’s Youth Director, Grace Ann was presented with the city’s proclamation by Mayor Gloria McClellan presented in front of many of her friends, colleagues, students and family.  It was such an honor to her that so many would go through such effort to say thanks.  She remembers many tears of joy mixed with sadness because leaving Vista was hard to do.  She had taught dance and theatre to over a thousand students during her years in North San Diego County.

“Grace Ann Etcheberria-Jacobs performed in our first production of “Oklahoma!” as Ado Annie and did a great deal of choreography in the early productions.  She began her Master’s degree program in 1985 and brought to me an idea for Moonlight Youth Theatre which soon materialized into the first Youth Theatre productions of “Cinderella” starring Bets Malone and Scott Dreier and “Tom Sawyer”, starring Eric Kunze and Sean Tamburrino.  Fifteen years later, Grace’s “Peter Pan” will close her career as Youth Theatre Director with Moonlight, as she is embarking upon new horizons in her position as a community college theatre professor and dance educator in Arizona.  She leaves a legacy of creating a great learning and achieving environment.  We’ll miss you, Grace!”
